3The LORD is a jealous and avenging God; the LORD is avenging and wrathful; 4the LORD takes vengeance on his adversaries and 5keeps wrath for his enemies.

6The LORD is slow to anger and 7great in power, and 8the LORD will by no means clear the guilty. 9His way is in whirlwind and storm, and the clouds are the dust of his feet.

10He rebukes the sea and makes it dry; he dries up all the rivers; 11Bashan and 12Carmel wither; the bloom of 13Lebanon withers.

14The mountains quake before him; 15the hills melt; the earth heaves before him, 16the world and all who dwell in it.

17Who can stand before his indignation? Who can endure the heat of his anger? His wrath 18is poured out like fire, and 19the rocks are broken into pieces by him.

20The LORD is good, 21a stronghold in the day of trouble; 22he knows those who take refuge in him.
8
But 23with an overflowing flood he will make a complete end of the adversaries,a and 24will pursue his enemies into darkness.
9
What 25do you plot against the LORD? 26He will make a complete end; trouble will not rise up a second time.
10
For they are 27like entangled thorns, like drunkards as they drink; 28they are consumed like stubble fully dried.

Thus says the LORD, "Though they are at full strength and many, 30they will be cut down and pass away. 31Though I have afflicted you, I will afflict you no more.
