The Lord Has Chosen Zion

A Song of Ascents.

Remember, O LORD, in David's favor, all 1the hardships he endured,
how he swore to the LORD and 2vowed to 3the Mighty One of Jacob,
"I will not enter my house or get into my bed,
I will not 4give sleep to my eyes or slumber to my eyelids,
until I 5find a place for the LORD, a dwelling place for 6the Mighty One of Jacob."
Behold, we heard of it in 7Ephrathah; we found it in 8the fields of Jaar.
"Let us go to his dwelling place; let us 9worship at his 10footstool!"
11Arise, O LORD, and go to your 12resting place, you and the ark of your 13might.
Let your 14priests be 15clothed with righteousness, and let your 16saints shout for joy.
For the sake of your servant David, 17do not turn away the face of 18your anointed one.
19The LORD swore to David a sure oath 20from which he will not turn back: 21"One of the sons of your bodya I will set on your throne.
If your sons keep my covenant and my testimonies that I shall teach them, their sons also forever shall 22sit on your throne."
For the LORD has 23chosen Zion; he has 24desired it for his dwelling place:
"This is my 25resting place forever; here I will 26dwell, for I have desired it.
I will abundantly 27bless her provisions; I will 28satisfy her poor with bread.
Her 29priests I will clothe with salvation, and her 30saints will shout for joy.
There I will make 31a horn to sprout for David; I have prepared 32a lamp for 33my anointed.
His enemies I will 34clothe with shame, but on him his crown will shine."
