Who Can Stand Before You?

To the choirmaster: with stringed instruments. A Psalm of Asaph. A Song.

In Judah God is 1known; his name is great in Israel.
His 2abode has been established in 3Salem, his 4dwelling place in Zion.
There he 5broke the flashing arrows, the shield, the sword, and the weapons of war. Selah
Glorious are you, more majestic 6than the mountains of 7prey.
8The stouthearted were stripped of their spoil; 9they sank into sleep; all the men of war were unable to use their hands.
At your rebuke, O God of Jacob, both 10rider and horse lay stunned.
11But you, you are to be feared! Who can 12stand before you when once your anger is roused?
From the heavens you uttered judgment; 13the earth feared and was still,
when God 14arose to establish judgment, to save all the humble of the earth. Selah
Surely 15the wrath of man shall praise you; the remnanta of wrath you will put on like a belt.
16Make your vows to the LORD your God and perform them; let all around him 17bring gifts to him who 18is to be feared,
who 19cuts off the spirit of princes, who 20is to be feared by the kings of the earth.
